Software Developer

I initially joined Liiift when I saw an opportunity to do finance work on the Kickstart scheme, which gave me 6 months of part-time employment and experience in a skilled job. After the first month, my ability was seen, and I was offered full-time to keep working here long term. After the 6 months were over Dawn offered me to continue full time in one of two roles, I could either focus on Finance or Software Development. I’ve always been interested in computers so I opted to go into Software Development. I’ve now completed a Level 3 Software Developer Technician Apprenticeship and I’m due to finish a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship this year.
Favourite Song? Angeles by Elliott Smith.
Favourite Film? Whiplash.
Favourite Podcast? Lateral with Tom Scott.
What’s the most memorable project you’ve worked on here, and why did it stand out to you? Probably The Asset Brokers website. It was one of the first websites we made but It was also the first public website integration I ever made, this was really exciting for me and now I’ve had the opportunity to revisit and improve it.
What’s your go-to productivity hack that helps you stay on top of your work? I really like using Trello to manage my tasks, I organise things into categories of “To do”, “Doing”, and “Done” making it easy to see what I have to do quickly.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received, and how has it influenced your work? You’re here because you’re good at what you do. If you couldn’t do it then you wouldn’t be here. I think this influenced me a lot as it helped reduce the imposter syndrome I was facing and made me more confident in my abilities.
