Head of Finance
I’ve been with the Adore group for just over 3 years now. My background is in print and media working for a large corporate organisation. I was attracted to the Adore Group as I wanted to work with SME’s in a range of different industries, which was very different from what I was doing in my previous role.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received, and how has it influenced your work?
Have a lazy approach to work – it sounds bad, however what I mean by this is always strive for efficiencies by working smarter. For example, if a particular task is going to take you a full day, try and find a way to do it quicker – (usually by using technology), hence “working lazy”. This approach to work has allowed me to be way more productive than I may otherwise have been, it also encourages me to learn new things and problem solve.
What’s one thing you wish people understood better about your job or department?
That finance isn’t just churning out monthly accounts (obviously this is part of it). It’s about understanding the way a business functions, the drivers of productivity, spotting potential risks and bottlenecks, then using that understanding to produce information that will support the decision making of key stakeholders.
Another thing to mention is that just because we are accountants, we don’t all specialise in tax!
